This, ‘A Modern Course in Vedic Astrology’ is offered in the form of a series of some 250 odd ‘Lessons’, with each lesson coming to you as a well-structured PDF Doc – through e-mail. Several examples are attached, for giving a correct impression of the tenor of the course. Each lesson, will generally have charts, tables, figures, etc; apart from the text of the lesson, which will usually run from anything like 5 to even 50/60 Pgs. There may be in all some 250 lessons, and the course may be profitably studied [at a pace of learning, with which the Mumukshu is comfortable], lesson by lesson, with the Mumukshu raising Qs, after each lesson has been studied; Qs, to which, As, will also be happily furnished lesson by lesson. These As may then be saved and filed, so as to make a compilation for future reference.
The course, may go on for more than a year [perhaps, even two years], once it is set a going. Because it is an online self-paced course, learning is greatly facilitated. Unlike a ‘Correspondence Course’, in which many of the Mumukshu’s Qs, must necessarily go unanswered, because of the absence of a continuous direct communication between the teacher and the Mumukshu, here, the online nature of this course, ensures rapid and successful learning. Currently, 12 seekers are learning the course [from all over the world]. The course commenced in February 2010.
The course starts from fundamental concepts and principles, and builds up, in a systematic manner, a really colossal edifice of Vedic astrological knowledge. In the end, the Mumukshus, who apply themselves, diligently, will acquire an excellent and thorough working knowledge in Vedic astrology-they will be able to analyze any Chart that is brought to them, and will have the depth of profound understanding to either develop Vedic astrology, as a hobby or even as a full-time main or ancillary profession. Mastery will of course depend on, to what an extent, the Mumukshus apply themselves, with dedication, devotion and sincerity.
The novel scope of the course, also encompasses the rather uncommon goal of ‘Hindu Homecoming’ [whose significance is brought into full relief in my book: ‘Sri Ramana Maharshi’s Moksha’- A Hindu astrological Pilgrimage, into the Life and Moksha of Sri Ramana Maharshi]; through the assimilation of self-knowledge [Atma Jnana], God-knowledge [Daiva Jnana], and knowledge of the world of human beings [Loka Janana], through the study of this Hindu Vidya [called Vedanga Jyotisha].
Assuredly, Vedic astrology is one of the most profound spiritual-intellectual creations, of the Hindu Rishis[Sages].It is expected to give an enduring understanding and insight into Hindu ethos, especially in the spiritual spheres of Dharma and Moksha, which have remained largely unfamiliar and unexplored, in our materialistic times. In this sense, in its farther reaches, it will come through as a course in Vedic astrology, that breaks astonishing new ground in the spheres of Dharma and Moksha.
The fund of knowledge, from which I draw my teaching materials, goes back to the remarkable ground-breaking work of the Vedic astrologer, Prof V K Choudhry[my Jyotish Acharya], called the SA[Systems Approach to Vedic astrology]. However, I also rely on a number of other authors and teachers of this discipline, both from ancient India and from the US. The list of books needed for the course comes as a separate PDF Doc. Needless to say, my own recent work, Sri Ramana Maharshi’s Moksha, will also be invoked and referred to extensively, during the course.
If we may liken this course to ‘A Temple of KalaPurusha’, then I like to conceive of it in these terms: The entire corpus of the living knowledge of the SA, is enshrined in the sanctum sanctorum of this Temple as the ‘Presiding Deity of Hora Shastra’ [Predictive Vedic astrology]. Nevertheless, you may also note that, just as in any Temple, there are always, many other ‘Parivara Devatas’ in the Temple precincts[‘Prakaram’], here too, into this course, I bring in the noteworthy good works of other Vedic astrologers, and my own insights, in areas of Vedic astrology, in which the SA has chosen to maintain silence.
For example, the SA does not attach any special significance to Retrograde Planets, nor does it invoke the Nakshatras….I consider the Nakshatras, and also the Tithis, and give a meaning to Retrogression, which, other Vedic astrologers, like Pandit Vamadeva Shastri, and James Braha have given. More importantly, this course, will also cover areas of spiritual life called Dharma and Moksha, and not just worldly life, called Artha and Kama.
In this way, the course, will be new in this field, and it has been my vision to cover 1000 Charts [for I have all the Data on 1000 Charts archived-charts of people, whom I have personally met and guided]. I have covered so far some 100 lessons, and have still a long way to go. It calls for dedication, application and the devotion of a lot of time, from your side. If, you are approaching this course, because a ‘calling’ for Vedic astrology, has already been kindled in your consciousness, by the will of Isvara, in tune with your Natal Chart,- that would of course be the highest credential, for taking this course.
Judging by the sample lessons attached [at random], you may decide, whether, you will enjoy studying this course. It is imperative that, while learning must occur, lesson by lesson, one must also ensure that one enjoys, and savors the whole course- Sutra by Sutra, lesson by lesson.
You will have to purchase the Software ‘Jyotish Tools’, and all of the books by Prof V K Choudhry, and ‘Astrology of the Seers’ by Pandit Vamadeva Shastri, etc.
Kannanji [Mob: 91 9840308087; email: skannan1944@gmail.com] will guide you further on this, once you decide to take the course.
At the end of the course, a Certificate of Accreditation [for having qualified in Vedic astrology], will be given to the Mumukshus, by Tat Tvam Asi, a Vedic-Hindu Foundation for the Understanding, Conservation and Dissemination of these ancient systems of spiritual knowledge.
